Bred in the jungles of Asia, our Banshee sword has its origins in the Thai “Krabi” and its close cousin, the Burmese “Dah.” Extremely strong and very quick, the Banshee is a cutting sword first and last, with a slightly weight-forward balance for slashing through jungle growth with ease. The high-carbon blade is heat treated for optimum shock absorption and edge retention, and the spiral-wrapped black leather grip provides excellent handling qualities. The sword comes equipped with a high-retention locking mechanism for safety. The wooden scabbard is finished in matte black, with side rings designed to allow a number of carrying options.

As an 9 year practitioner of Muay Thai with several trips to Thailand, I can say this sword is a very close match to the Krabi หัวแหลม "hua laem" (pointed head) style blade. This sword is very sturdy and well balanced. It fits well into the scabbard, and the locking mechanism is a really practical addition and fuctions perectly. The button is constructed in such a way as to allow for very fast draws from underhand and over hand positions. The scabbard has loops on both sides which allow the sling to be latched accordingly depending on whether you prefer overhand or underhand draws. The blade is truly sharpened (and capable of being even sharper) and has zer problem cutting through limbs (tree of course). Overall an excellant and practical Dtab I would love to see a follow up to this with an even more traditional look perhaps with some yant "magic" etchings along the spine of the blade and possibly a slight bit more tempering of the point of the blade. Overall I give it a solid A for durability and practicality.
