The neighboring Kouga and Iga clans of feudal Japan were bitter enemies for centuries and their warring Ninja families have been immortalized in Japanese literature. To commemorate these secretive warriors we have introduced our Kouga and Iga Ninja-To.
The Kouga features a dismountable double-pegged Tsuka with a battle wrap over black rayskin and Kouga Mon Menuki. The blackened iron Tsuba features the Kouga Mon and pierced Kanji, a theme repeated on the Fuchi/Kashira. The Kanji and Mon are also employed on the blackened fittings of the spiked Saya. The Kouga features a forged high carbon blade, differentially quenched to an edge hardness of 60HRc.
Essential tool for the Ninjutsu practitioner.

5 stars are for combat/battle tested....

...in lieu I give it four stars for tight fit of the blade and handle, the metal on the saya which might make the saya a backup weapon and I like the overall feel & look of the weapon.

Received the sword on 3-30-11 around 4:00P.M. ordered it on 3-24-11.Came with a black sword bag.
The blade had scuff marks on it?! Also I could tell the
hamon was acid etched. Could kind of see the "real" temper line near the edge. I polished out the fake hamon and it started to take the appearance of sincerity. In my opinion it should most likely be marked at 195-200 dollar price line. All and all it is pretty cool,...sharp as a sword can get and looks impressive. Cuts good. I guess I like it.... 2 stars!

I have been collecting Hanwei peaces for well over a decade and Love every peace in my collection (well over 30pc). Well I had to unfortunetly leave only 3 stars for the Kouga Ninja-to as when I receaved it the bottom black iron ring mount had broken loose from the saya. It looked like it was missing one of the shims used to hold it tite so I reshimed it and all is fine. The katana is exceptional not a single blemish or dull spot in pollish or edg, all the fittings are tight and perfect. this is the only peace that has ever had a problem and I'm not sure how it happend but the box was perfect so I will have to assume it was a fault from manufacture. I will still buy HANWEI blades because one out of thirty in 12 years isn't bad.
