The Orchid Katana is as quick as it is beautiful with a relatively light blade of folded K120C and striking koshirae. The hamon is prominent and the hada shows distinct layers. High quality ray skin (same) is used on the tsuka, and the tsuka-ito and sageo is woven from premium Japanese cotton. The tsuba is of blackened iron, with an Orchid and Butterfly decoration inlaid in silver, brass and copper. The saya is deeply lacquered in blue with buffalo horn koiguchi and kurikata. The fuchi, kashira and kojiri are crafted in bronzed iron with silver and gold detailing. The habaki is of one-piece brass construction. The blade features a medium-length (chu) kissaki. See Models SH1208 and SH1209 for details of the Orchid Wakizashi and Tanto.

Orchid Katana Review

I've owned the Orchid Katana for close to 5yrs, and in that time found it to be not only beautifully made, but fantastically light , quick, nimble, and well balenced.
The ito is still tight, the sum of the parts are as tight as when it was delivered and doesn't rattle at all.
I was so impressed with the Orchid Katana, that i then bought the Wakazashi and Tanto also.
I do not cut with it, but know it's as sharp as it is beautiful and would not hesitate to bet my life on it in battle !
Yes it is more expensive than the run of the mill stuff out there, but when you see, feel, and admire the blade , it is money WELL spent ! After all, you get what you pay for and in this sword you get a whole lot more!!!

Beautiful sword.
The Koshirae are worked and inlaid with gold & silver in an Orchid theme. The Tsuka ito is tightly wrapped and even. The Habaki fits snug in the Koiguchi.
The blade is quite stunning. The Hada of the folded steel is visible on the surface and the different shades in the Hamon are a great contrast to the appearence overall.
The blade is quite sharp, but I'll use my Practical Elite Katana to cut with until I get better.
